Your Permanent Solution For Missing Teeth
Dental implants provide a long-lasting, durable solution for those with missing teeth.
Of all the ways to correct a lost or missing tooth, a dental implant restoration is often your best choice. With dental implants, you will be able to chew normally, smile with confidence, and care for your mouth and teeth just the way you always have. There’s no need for special treatment or cleansers and your replacement teeth will work and look the same as your natural ones!
When a tooth is lost through an accident or extraction, an unsightly gap is formed in your smile. This gap not only looks bad, but it also affects how you chew food and can lead to crooked teeth, gaps, and even diseases of the gums or bone. While you may not notice it, over time your remaining teeth will shift to close the gap, and you could end up with an uneven smile. To prevent this from occurring, a dental implant restoration can prevent these problems and complete your smile.

- What exactly is a dental implant? An implant is an artificial tooth root (made of titanium) that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth (or bridge).
- Am I a candidate for an implant? Basically, if you’re an adult and have lost a tooth, you qualify for a dental implant. A dental implant is an option for people who have lost a tooth, or teeth, due to periodontal disease, an injury, or another reason.
- What is the process of getting a dental implant? Once your individualized treatment plan has been developed, you are normally referred to a specialist. This specialist will place the implant, or “tooth root”, into the bone socket of the missing tooth. That site then has to heal. The healing time is up to the specialist but normally lasts anywhere from six to twelve weeks. Once healed, an abutment—a small connector post—is attached to the implant to securely hold the new tooth. You then have an impression made of your teeth by your regular dentist. They will make a replacement tooth, or implant crown, to attach to the abutment.
- Does insurance cover the cost of dental implants?
